Family Programs

Family programs at Pineland Farms engage children and adults in fun-filled and educational adventures throughout the farm. Opportunities currently available are listed below.

Reservations are required for all programs. The maximum number of participants per group is 25.

 

Story Hour

Join us every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at The Market and Welcome Center for story hour.

Horse Education

When: dates listed below

Time: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Ages: 7 and up, adults are welcome

Cost: $15.00 per student, registration is required
 

Join us to learn about horses. Class time includes 1 hour class time and 1 hour hands-on (no riding). Classes will be divided by age group if there are enough participants.

Family Program General Info

Family programs will consist of a story, craft and outdoor activity. Programs will run rain or shine, so please come dressed for the weather. For a brief description of the programs and dates which they will be offered, please scroll down.

Time: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Cost: $3.00 per person up tp $15.00 per family, 2 year-olds and under are free
Location: Valley Farm Education Center (unless noted otherwise)

Maine Farms and Me

When: Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Come visit our cows and chickens. We will learn what these animals eat, how we care for them and why we have them on our farm. You will gain an appreciation for the responsibilities involved in taking care of the animals.


From Cow to Cheese

When: Thursday, March 11, 2010

Let's head to the barn and discover all that it takes to make milk. We will milk a cow and then follow the milk to our Creamery where we will see cheese being made.


Fresh From the Farm

When: Thursday, March 25, 2010

Join us as we explore foods fresh from the farm. We will explore the process of maple sugaring through stories, crafts and a walk to our sugar maples. Then we will end by making a yummy treat.


From Moo to You

When: Monday, April 19, 2010

Come meet our herd of Holsteins at Pineland Farms and learn about dairy farming in Maine. We will milk a cow and investigate the processes by which milk is produced. Let’s head to the barn and discover all that it takes to bring milk to our table.


Animal Signs

When: Friday, April 23, 2010

Let's enjoy the outdoors as we look for signs of animals. We will discover what animals call Pineland Farms home and see if we can find thier tracks, scat or homes.
