Pineland Farms Riding Academy: Riding lessons

Pineland Farms Riding Academy offers English riding lessons for children and adults year-round at Pineland Farms Equestrian Center. We welcome beginner riders as well as experienced riders. While our focus is on Dressage and Combined Training, we develop basic English riding skills first, with an emphasis on safety. We also offer schoolmasters trained up to Third Level Dressage, for the more advanced dressage rider.

Lessons are held in the indoor and outdoor arenas as well as out in the fields and wooded trails. Our indoor riding arena is heated during the winter months.

If you are interested in learning more about our lesson program or would like to schedule a lesson, please contact our receptionist at (207) 657-6419.

Lesson Options:

We offer weekly one-hour private lessons to all students.  We also offer semi-private lessons as well as a leasing option for riders with prior approval from their instructor.  The terms and fees for each are outlined below.

Students sign up for a specific time and day for all lessons and leases.

Option A – “Bulk” Lessons:

$500 for private or $350 for semi-private

Pineland Farms will provide 10 lessons over the 13 week session.  If the student uses the full 10 lessons before the session is over they may book “extra” lessons and will be billed at the bulk lesson rate.  A deposit of half the session amount is due prior to the start of the session.

Option A Cancellation Policy:  If the student cancels Pineland will offer make-up lessons subject to availability.*  If student cancellations cannot be made up within the session there are no refunds on the lesson packages.**

Option B – “Single” Lessons:

$60 for private or $40 for semi-private

Individual lessons are paid for as ridden.  The lesson must be paid before the student can ride.

Option B Cancellation Policy:

If the student cancels Pineland will offer make-up lessons, subject to availability.*  Lessons cancelled by the student within 24 hours of the scheduled time will be billed a $15 cancellation fee.  All fees must be paid before the next lesson.**

Leasing:

$25 per lease. A deposit of half the session lease amount is due prior to the start of the session

With the instructor's express permission students may choose to lease a ride.  Because leases are a rental of a lesson horse and effectively remove that horse from the lesson roster for that day and time, there are no refunds for cancelled lease rides.  Missed lease rides cannot be rescheduled.**

On occasion, an instructor may assign a student an extra or single lease ride.  These leases should be paid for in advance or at the time of the ride.

* Make-up lessons are not guaranteed and are subject to availability.  Make-up lessons may or may not be with the rider’s usual instructor, or at the rider’s usual time.

**Consistent repeat cancellations may result in the student being dropped from the program.

Lessons with the Director, Gwyneth McPherson fall under a different lesson category altogether and should be discussed and contracted with Gwyneth separately.

Lesson Policies

·     All students must bring and wear a helmet while riding.

·     Long pants and a closed toe shoe with a heel are required while riding.

·     24-hour notice for cancellation is required or a $15 cancellation fee will be incurred.
